After graduating with a degree in Applied Economic Sciences from the University Centre of Limburg in Belgium, Koen came to the UK to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising at the Watford School of Business. During this course he discovered the attraction of the media planning and buying world and so a month after graduating. In July 2000 he started his advertising career at the international department of Universal McCann Europe.
During his 7 years at Universal McCann, Koen not only worked on a wide variety of international blue chip clients including MasterCard, General Motors, Goodyear/Dunlop Europe, Inbev, Black&Decker, Nikon, M-real and Panasonic, but he was also involved in a variety of communication projects including sponsorship development, portfolio management, branded content development, targeting exercises and TV programme developments and valuations.
Koen also helped setting up the communication planning capabilities within the International department of Universal McCann. After having acquired a strong knowledge and experience in media planning and buying as well as communication planning, he started looking for a job that could put these skills to its best use; which brought him to Experience Communications Ltd where he is now putting all his energy and enthusiasm for the communications world to good use!
As a true Belgian citizen, Koen doesn’t shy away from a portion of chips with mayonnaise, home-made waffles topped with Belgian chocolate or a strong beer. To compensate for these indulging moments, he runs marathons, swims across lakes and cycles across the country.
